Zelensky warns of huge Russian bombardment on I-Day

Kiev 24 Aug : As Ukraine is preparing to mark Independence Day on Wednesday and also celebrate the six-month anniversary since Russian invaders began their campaign on February 24th the president Volodymyr Zelenksy has warned his citizens against massive bombardment and possible provocations from Moscow.
In a video message to the country on Tuesday night, President stated: “Tomorrow (Wednesday) is an important day for everyone of us.This day is also crucial for our adversaries.It is important to be aware of the possibility that the next day Russian provocations and violent strikes are likely.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine and our intelligence, as well as Special Services will be doing everything possible to protect our citizens as much as is possible.We will certainly respond to any sign of Russian terror.

“But Please be extra cautious tomorrow.Be aware of the curfew.

Be aware of the warnings on the air.Be aware of official announcements.Remember that we must all win victory by working together.”

Zelensky also stated that he was thankful “to all who help Ukraine.to everyone who, from the 24th of February, has taken the route of fight to achieve what is real”: freedom for freedom, for independence”.

The President also announced he plans to award the awards to Ukrainians who have contributed to the strength of the country in celebration of Independence Day, which marks 31 years since Ukraine was liberated from the Soviet Union, dpa news agency reported.

“We have planned a number of events that highlight the path we’ve taken.All together, Ukrainians in Ukraine, across our territory, are all in a state of peace and temporarily occupied, as our people fight all over the world.”

The US also warned prior to of the day that Russia could make use of this anniversary as a reason to launch new attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure for civilians as well as government buildings.

It urged any US citizens who are in Ukraine to leave of the country.

US deputy UN ambassador Richard Mills specifically warned Russia that “as we near Ukraine’s independence day all eyes are on us” in comments to the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

“This is not a need to be said .Please don’t bomb hospitals, schools orphanages,” he said.

“We will continue to seek accountability for any violation of international law.”
