Dhaka, Jan 28 : Bangladesh on Friday Included fast bowler Jahanara Alam in their Squad for the ICC 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be played in New Zealand from March-April.
Jahanara had failed to make the cut for the ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier in Malaysia.
It was learnt that she was excluded on disciplinary grounds.
The veteran cricketer then wrote to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), accusing selector Manjurul Islam of mismanagement and bias.
The matter was sorted out later after BCB high-ups interfered, a Cricbuzz report said.
BCB on Friday said that the women’s team will start its preparatory camp at the BCB National Cricket Academy from January 29.All the members of the CWG qualifiers were Included in the Squad, with the only addition being Jahanara.
Bangladesh have directly qualified for the 50-over World Cup for the first time in their history and Nigar Sultana Joty will lead the side.
“We’re playing the 50-over world cup for the first time, so I am excited,” said Nigar Sultana.
“Besides that, each and every player is hopeful of doing well.If you look closely at the team we’ve put out, you will see that our team has many young talents alongside experienced players who have been performing well over the years.This Squad has been playing together for two years.
Our team spirit and confidence is at a high level,” she added.
