Citing the Delhi Disaster Management Authoritys guidelines about not organizing gatherings during the pandemic (DDMA), the Delhi Police said Wednesday that they will initiate legal proceedings if the doctors dont follow themKPS Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police told IANS that he had asked the protesting doctors to refrain from organizing any gatherings in the city in light of the increasing cases of Covid-19.
For the last 13 days, resident doctors protested the delaying of NEET-PG-2021 counseling.According to the ACP, its clear in the DDMA guidelines which no rally or social gathering is permitted in times of pandemic.
They [doctors] represent the nations citizens responsible for their actions and each one of us draws inspiration from them.Yadav stated that if people are concerned about doctors not adhering to the Covid-induced protocol, then they may do so.The officer responded to the question "If the doctors refuse to cooperate?".He said that the polices first goal will be to get the residents to understand the law, but that, "if they dont, legal action may be taken against them.
" A delegation representing the protesting physicians met with the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, but they failed to reach any agreement.Residents continued protesting in support of their demands.
