According to the BBC, Dr.Kluge stated that 500,000 additional deaths may be reported by March if no urgent action is taken.

This warning is issued as many countries report high infection rates, and have implemented partial and full lockdowns.

According to him, an increase in the wearing of masks could be a quick way to help.

Dr.Kluge urged increased vaccinations and implementation of public health measures as well as new treatments for the rising epidemic.

He said that Covid-19 had become “once again” the leading cause of death in the region, and added “we know what we need to do to combat the virus.”

Dr.Kluge stated that mandatory vaccination should not be considered a last resort, but it was important to hold a legal and social debate about the matter.

He said that “Before that there are other methods like the Covid Pass” and that it was “not a limitation of liberty but a tool for keeping our individual freedom.”

Europe is now the most severely affected region by the pandemic.

Austria became the first European nation to declare that Covid-19 vaccination will be a lawful requirement on Friday.

New rules will take effect in February.Details of how they will be implemented are still under discussion.

This announcement was made alongside one of a national lockdown in response to high numbers of cases and low levels.

The report stated that other European countries have also been imposing new measures in response to rising cases.

The Netherlands implemented a partial lockdown over the weekend.According to the report, German leaders also agreed that they would restrict unvaccinated persons in high-Covid hospitals admissions.
