WBSSC fraudulent: ED permitted to question Partha Chatterjee Arpita Mukherjee in prison

Kolkata 5 Aug : A special Public Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court, which sentenced the former minister Partha Chatterjee and his assistant Arpita Mukherjee for 14 days of detention on Friday, has allowed Enforcement Directorate sleuths to question the two in the respective correctional facilities in the context with the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam.

While Chatterjee was transferred to the Presidency Central Correctional Home, Mukherjee is being transferred to the Alipore Womens Correctional Home.In the conducting the hearing in the case, ED counsel, Feroze Edulji emphasized on the authority granted to Central Agency officials to join the two agencies during the day of judicial custody.

The court also ordered the Director of Alipore Womens Correctional Home in the Alipore Womens Correctional Home, the place where Mukherjee will be kept to ensure her complete security throughout her judicial custody.The prison official in charge was instructed to inform the court about the security measures taken on August 18, when the duo will be brought before the same court.

During the hearing the counsel representing both ED and Mukherjee expressed fear of threats to her existence in prison.Although her counsel requested first division prisoners status, ED counsel appealed that the food and drinks that she is served be examined before being served.

Although the court didnt specify the prisoners first division status, it did direct the Director of the correctional home in question to ensure her safety.src/vd .
