The third season of this hugely popular series took a while to air due to the pandemic, and subsequent delays.Vivek Oberoi’s character Vikrant is back with vengeance.

But the game seems to have moved on.

Vivek recently spoke with IANS about the latest season, the thrill of getting back into his character and how he used his character’s scars to sketch the theme of ‘revenge’ in the show.

Shedding light on the challenges that he faced for getting back into the character after a while, the actor says, “Before I went on the first day of shoot for Season 3, I can’t tell you how nervous I was.I felt exactly the same way as I did when I made my debut. It was not easy for me.Two things are important. One, you’re coming home to the world of “Inside Edge” after a while. You will be expected to keep true to Vikrant’s grain, the character you played in Season 1 & Season 2, and to carry that truth into Season 3.”

He praises the show writer for giving actors solid material to work from.”But the writers on ‘Inside Edge’ are phenomenal. Each season was different.Every season brought a new challenge and allowed for a completely new character to evolve.”

He says, “In this episode, Vikrant Dhawan has a completely different graph.Even though it’s the same character you need to make it unique and still look like it has continuity.

It was an incredible challenge for me and I was able to do it.However, I was nervous during the first few days of shooting.”

Commenting on how the prosthetic scars of Vikrant helped him deliver a calculated performance, Vivek says, “In this season, you see Vikrant pre the scar and Vikrant post the scar. You can see the entire journey. After I was done with my transformation into the character, I would lie down and the prosthetics team would place a scar on me.”

He continued, “I deliberately didn’t see it (the scare) while it was being made. But, as soon as they made the scar, my eyes would open and I would touch it.Vikrant Dhawan, who had flown to the top, crashed at the bottom, and is now rising again, would transform into me.I would touch the scar to remind him of his vengeance.”

When asked how much he has changed as an actor between Season 1 and Season 3 of “Inside Edge”, the actor replied, “Season 1 through Season 3 has almost taken five years.” I have a maturity as an actor, and also as an actor.”

He speaks out about the evolution of OTT media. There is already a niche audience that is your audience at this point, and it is very discerning. They are watching ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Fargo,’ ‘Game of Thrones’, etc. This audience is your only audience. You cannot irk them.”

” At the same time, you need to appeal to theatrical audiences by saying, “Why don’t we try this?” Vivek signs off.Now that we are past that stage, we can experiment and push the boundaries,” Vivek signs off.
