According to Xinhua news agency, he stated that a workgroup focusing on sanctions would meet Tuesday morning.

Concerning the prospects for the negotiations, he said that “many” Iranian counterparts had welcomed Iran’s views on the need to have assurances that the US would not reimpose sanctions on Iran that were supposed to be lifted under 2015 agreement.

He also stated that Washington would not abandon the deal in the same way it did under former President Donald Trump.

The Iranian diplomat described Monday’s meetings in Tehran as “constructive” and useful, and praised Russian and Chinese representatives for their support of Iran’s stances.

He said that European representatives had acknowledged in their remarks the fact that the main reason for the current situation was the US withdrawal. Therefore, Washington should be the first one to act to revive the agreement.

Bagheri Kani stated that the six previous rounds were discussed and that all parties agreed to the principle of “nothing is finalized until everything is agreed”.Therefore, any of the preliminary outcomes that were drafted between April-June could be reexamined.

After nearly six months of hiatus, Iran and the remaining participants to the 2015 nuclear agreement, with indirect US involvement, resumed talks Monday.
