Venezuelans are protesting against sanction and illicit confiscation of assets

Caracas 10 Aug : A swathe of Venezuelans took to streets of the capital city of Caracas in protest of US-led sanctions as well as illegal confiscation of Venezuela’s financial assets and other non-financial ones.
Around 10,000 protesters participated in the protest on Tuesday, which was called by the government to call for the return of the properties, the Transportation Minister and President of Conviasa, the flag carrier Conviasa, Ramon Velasquez Araguayan spoke to the media.

“We will marched through the National Assembly (Congress) to show a strong demonstration of the Venezuelan people,” Xinhua news agency quoted the Minister as declaring.

He said they will continue to move until all confiscated assets are returned.

The assets include one that belongs to Venezuelan company Emtrasur which was “illegally” placed in a shackle in Argentina because of an order from an US judge, according to Velasquez, who added that the plane is required to be released.

Venezuelan accounts with international banks were also taken, he said.

In addition, addressing the protesters The Jorge Rodriguez, President of Venezuela’s National Assembly Jorge Rodriguez condemned the sanctions imposed on Conviasa.

“Agents of the North American empire must be aware .there’s a stream of citizens here demonstrating against sanctions and are rising against the blockade and who are demonstrating against attacks on our business Conviasa,” he said.

The sanctions imposed on Venezuela are among the worst “that any country on the continent has ever experienced”, he said.

On June 6 the 6th of June, the Boeing 747 of Emtrasur which was that was used to transport humanitarian aid to Caribbean as well as African nations, was confiscated by Argentine authorities.It was later confiscated in accordance with an order of an US judge.
