Experts believe that getting vaccinated is the best option right now and can make a big difference in fighting the new Covid variant.
Ravi Shekhar Jha (Additional Director Pulmonology, Fortis Escorts Hospital Faridabad), stated that “So far it appears that those without vaccination are at very high risk” to get affected by the severe illness.
Jha stated that vaccination is the best option available at present and can be a game-changer.
Experts stated that we must understand that the pandemic has not ended and that we must continue to take all precautions, including social distancing.
“The new Covid Omicron variant has many mutations from the previous Covid-19 strains,” stated Animesh, Senior Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute (New Delhi).
Arya said that people need to be aware that vaccination and Covid appropriate behavior are the only way to prevent this variant from happening.
Scientists are worried about the new South African variant.They fear it could cause outbreaks in other countries and disrupt health systems.
Indian health experts said that it was too early to predict if the third wave is coming.However, India has witnessed the same carelessness over the past few months.
It is possible that the omicron could have a negative effect on the country.

South African health officials stated that the new variant contains many more mutations than scientists anticipated, especially after a severe wave that was triggered by the Delta variant.
Many of these mutations can lead to immune evasion or transmissibility.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), it will take several weeks to assess the impact of the new variant.
In the wake of the discovery, several countries have placed an absolute ban on travel to South Africa.
