US monkeypox cases exceed 18,000

Washington on August 31, : The total number of people who are infected with monkeypox in the US has reached 18,000 according to the most recent information of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In total, a number of 2,916 cases of new confirmed cases confirmed in the nation in the past seven days.Although the number of cases is increasing across the country however, the pace of the outbreak appears to be slowing down according to the CDC states.There are 3,291 people affected.

California is among the states most affected being followed by New York (3,197) and Florida (1,870).Since the first instance of the virus was discovered in the US on May 18, the spread of cases over more than 60 areas in the United States.

The US has the worlds largest quantity of monkeypox-related cases.On the 4th of August, CDC declared monkeypox a national health emergency.

Then later, afterward, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had issued an emergency Use Authorization of the JYNNEOS vaccine to be administered intradermally in those aged who are of old and over.The White House National Monkeypox Response team has announced a number of steps to further speed up the response of the administration to the outbreak and limit the spread of the virus.

The LGBTQI+ community, particularly men who sex with men are believed to be at the highest in danger of getting the virus.
