UPSC candidate held accountable for taking a diamond ring from Delhi

A Delhi Police official announced Tuesday that a 27-year old man was arrested for taking a jewel ring from a jewelry shopPraveen (a Haryana resident) was seen going to Connaught Places jewellery shop on Monday.

Based on the complaint by Lalit Dhiman (store manager of Tanishq), Connaught Place police station, an FIR was filed under Sections 379 & 411 of Indian Penal Code.According to the complainant, the accused stole a diamond ring and attempted escape.

The showroom staff interrogated the accused and called the beat team.DCP Deepak Yadav stated that the accused fled the showroom after he got an inkling that police may have been called.

He was then chased by and later arrested by the beat team.A video of the cop chasing the accused also went viral on social media.

The police said that the constable who was chasing the accused got injured during the process.He was later referred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

During interrogation, Praveen disclosed that he was a student and was preparing for UPSC at Mukherjee Nagar.He used to indulge in small thefts to fulfil his daily needs.
