A party functionary stated that the previous yatras were meant to expose the government.

However, this Yatra would tell the cadres about our accomplishments and ask people for their blessings.

Vidya Sagar, a Dalit leader of BJP, will coordinate the yatras that begin on December 7.They will likely start at six locations from each of six regions, and end at Lucknow where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address them.

“Leaders to lead these yatras have yet to be determined, but the motorised chariots (which will have cut outs Modi and Yogi, who remain our star campaigners”) said the BJP leader.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological mentor of BJP, will also be involved with mobilizing the masses for these yatras. They would also focus on the 78 seats which the BJP lost in 2017.

The party will also target constituencies where there is a strong anti-incumbency element.

“These yatras will take place before the distribution of tickets and will help the party evaluate the popular mood.

The BJP is expected change nearly half of the sitting lawmakers in different Assembly seats where it receives negative feedback to beat anti-incumbency,” the functionary stated.

The yatras will be focusing more on opposition bastions such as Rae Bareli (the parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi) and Azamgarh (the Lok Sabha constituency chief Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party).

Zishan Haider, Congress spokesperson, said.”We hope these yatras will travel through regions such as Hathras or Lakhimpur Kheri, where the ruling party’s insensitive leaders have heaped unspeakable atrocities on the farmers, Dalits, and poor.”
