The action plan states that the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences has formed a special team of doctors to discuss the state’s precautions regarding the spread of the new variant as well as its effects after vaccination.

Director of SGPGI Dr R.K.Dhiman stated that vaccination is the best weapon against the new variant in Uttar Pradesh.

A combination of increased medical facilities and the adequate presence of medical resources over the past one and a quarter years has made it clear that the state is fully equipped to handle the new variant.

Dhiman stated that Omicron has been increasing in other countries and that different aspects of this new variant have been discussed with the institute.

This particular meeting has shown that the new Corona variant spreads quickly and is highly transmissible.

He said that the risk of an increase in mortality due to this variant is lower than the Delta.

He said that the Covid protocol should be followed along with vaccinations at the earliest to avoid the third wave.
