UNICEF launches its largest ever funding appeal

United Nations, Dec 8, : UNICEF has launched a record-breaking emergency funding appeal of $9.4 billion to reach more than 327 millions people, including 177million children, who have been affected by humanitarian crises or the Covid-19 pandemic.

UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore stated that "millions of children around world are suffering from extreme weather events and climate crisis." "As the Covid-19 epidemic approaches its third year, the plight for these children is made worse by faltering economies and growing poverty.

It is the children who are already in crisis that are most affected.They require urgent help." The appeal includes 2 Billion dollars for UNICEFs Afghanistan response.13 million Afghan children are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.These funds will go to 1 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, at a time when the system is in danger of collapse.

UNICEFs largest single-country appeal ever is for Afghanistan.UNICEF announced that an additional 933 million dollars will go to the Access to Covid-19 Tools Accelerator.
