Kiev, December 12, 2018 : .Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, spoke by phone with Emmanuel Macron in France to talk about his country’s security concerns.The talks saw the leaders discuss ways of unlocking the negotiations in Normandy format.This is a diplomatic process that seeks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine’s east region, Donbas, according to Xinhua news agency.
Zelensky stated that Kiev is ready to carry on active work in the Normandy Four (which includes France, Russia, Germany, and Ukraine).
Macron and Zelensky stressed that the Trilateral Contact Group’s (TCG), which was ineffective, must be reactivated to reach an effective ceasefire and release hostages.
The TCG, consisting of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, was formed to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Donbas.
On Thursday, Zelensky held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Joe Biden to discuss the security situation around Ukraine and the prospects for intensifying the peaceful settlement in Donbas.
It is reported that Zelensky will meet Macron on December 15 in Brussels.
