The new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, is trembling the world.Already this variant has been identified in many countries.
In this context, tests are being conducted at airports for travellers coming from abroad.
However, currently, concerns raised as a traveller from the UK tested positive for covid-19.
A 35-year-old woman from the UK arrived at Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad and tested covid-19 positive.An RT-PCR test conducted at the Airport resulted that she was tested Covid positive.
This was stated by Telangana Public Health Director Dr Srinivasa Rao.She was sent to TIMS in Hyderabad for treatment.He said that the samples of the women were sent for genome sequencing.However, it remains to be seen whether the variant is a Delta variant or an Omicron variant.
The report is estimated to arrive in three days.
Srinivasa Rao said the victim was being kept under medical observation.
He said she was from the Rangareddy district.However, he said tests conducted on her cousin turned out to be negative.
He said the new variant was discussed for three hours at a cabinet sub-committee meeting.
Dr Srinivasa Rao said that the Omicron variant is spreading faster than the Delta variant.
It is said to have spread to 24 countries in just three days.
