They then detained them at Kasmaipur’s designated camp. This is where they were being held by the surrendered DNLA terrorists who had recently crossed ground.

After the village complained about the kidnapping, the police arrived at the camp and discovered two dead youths. They also rescued four other injured people who were then admitted to Haflong Civil Hospital.

Police have learned that two of the youths died and four others were injured by DNLA militants.

According to police, five injured DNLA personnel were found in a room separate from the camp.

They rescued all five of the victims and took them to Haflong Civil Hospital, where they died Tuesday.

After they tried to flee from the camp, the senior DNLA cadres brutally beat the five of them.

In connection to these incidents, five militants of the DNLA were arrested by police including their leader.

After the militant group declared a unilateral ceasefire in September 7, around 50 cadres from the DNLA had crossed the ground between September and November.

The Assam government announced on September 10, that it will also cease security operations against militants after the group declared a unilateral ceasefire.

The DNLA was established in 2018 in order to seek a sovereign, independent Dimasa nation.

It is believed that the DNLA carried out extortion activities in Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, and other districts.Although the Dima Hasao District was formerly North Cachar District in Assam, it hasn’t seen major extremist violence over recent years.
