Two panchayats from Rajasthan have voted against liquor via voting

In large numbers, women from two Panchayats - Barar and Weir - in Rajsamand District of Rajasthan voted to remove a liquor shop.

This sealed the fate of alcohol sales in their villageThese two panchayats are now the fourth and fifth in the district to vote for the removal of a liquor shop in the village on Saturday.These panchayats are the fourth and fifth to vote in the district for the closing of the villages liquor shop.

There is a provision in the Rules to close liquor shops by panchayat voting.The voting started at 8am and continued till 5pm registering 64 per cent voting mostly by the women.Voting began at 8am and ended at 5pm.64% of voters were women.The minimum votes required is 51 per cent of the total registered 5,632 voters.
