San Francisco, December 29, : , Tumblr’s update to iOS has been released.It censors many tags in order to conform with Apple safety guidelines.The Verge reports that the platform is altering iOS’s ability to access sensitive information.This could affect their search for content and scroll through the “Following”, and even stop them from accessing blogs flagged.
Tumblr seems to have gone too far in defining sensitive content.
Tumblr posts can be searched by tags.
Posts with censored tag will not appear on users’ dashboards or on search pages.
One Twitter thread highlighted some absurd tags, such as “submission”, that were eventually removed from iOS.
According to the report, Tumblr users have been tracking all blocked tags using a Google Doc.User noted that not all of the banned tags were blocked on iOS, and that they are still subject to change.
While some banned tags may be directly related to harmful, sexual or violent content, others do not belong on this list and could actually cause more harm than good.
The words “girl” and “sad” have been removed.
The list also includes “Single Dad”, “Single Mom”, “Single Parent,” “Suicide Prevention,” and “Testicular Cancer”.This could potentially cause harm to anyone who seeks support.
