The Congress is poaching Congress leaders and sources claim that Mamata Banerjee-led parties want to leave the Congress shadow in opposition.

Congress leaders claim that they invited all the opposition parties, but it was up to them whether or not to attend.

Although the Congress had on Friday managed to convince 14 opposition parties to skip Constitution Day celebrations (Trinamool wanted to maintain distance from Congress), Banerjee wants to expand West Bengal, but her entry into national politics could hinder the larger talk of Opposition unity.

The Congress is targeting her indirectly, but blaming Prashant Kishor, a poll strategist, for poaching its party leaders from Goa, Assam and Meghalaya.

Banerjee did not meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi during her recent visit to Delhi, claiming that it was not necessary to do so each time.

The Congress is speaking to the Trinamool in order to get it on board ahead of the Winter session.

However, suspicions remain as the Meghalaya Split – where 12 out of 17 MLAs switched to the Trinamool – has caused a furore within the Congress, which was already under attack from the BJP in northeast.
