Kolkata, November 23, : , The gunshot wounds suffered by the leader of Trinamool Congress Wahzul Kan’s minority cell in Howrah on Tuesday left him with serious injuries. Khan was shot from close quarters near his Howrah home on Monday night.
The incident occurred just a few days after the death of a leader of the youth party in Canning, South 24 Parganas.
He used to walk 3 minutes to go to his new home in the evenings.He would stay there for 3-4 hours, then return home to sleep at night.”He used to talk to the people of the area to learn about their problems,” Wahzul brother Guddu Khan said.Guddu Khan switched to the BJP just before the assembly elections.
On Monday, as he was returning home from work, some fire-arms men approached him and fired at him.He was injected with three bullets.Khan said that Khan rushed him to the hospital, but he later died.
Four people were arrested by police in connection with this case and they are still looking for the third.We watched CCTV footage and identified two of them.Two more were arrested after we interrogated the pair.”We are currently interrogating the suspects and we are optimistic that we can arrest them all,” said a Howrah senior police officer.
We are happy with the actions taken by police.Khan stated that Khan’s brother did not want to be a part of the syndicate in his locality.
Trinamool Congress however, was furious.Kalyan Ghosh, Howrah’s district president, said that he was an excellent organizer and this is a big loss for the party.
We believe the BJP was behind this murder as the corporation election nears.They were finding it difficult to manage several of the wards which had been under his control.The allegation was refuted by BJP.
Some miscreants in Canning, South 24 Parganas shot Trinamool Congress’ youth leader to death on Saturday night.After being shot at close range, the victim was identified as Maharam Sk – a leader in Trinamool of Nikarihat Grand Panchayat.He was rushed to SSKM.
Sk was pronounced dead at the hospital Sunday afternoon.
