TN Police continue to crackdown on spas, massage parlours

Chennai, Nov 24, : After receiving complaints that some spas were operating without proper licenses, Tamil Nadu Police decided to continue its crackdown on massage parlours and spas in the state.
After receiving complaints that massage parlours were engaging in illegal activities, the Chennai police conducted a raid on spas and parlours on Monday.

Following the raids, 63 parlours were closed and 63 spas were shut down in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu Police is taking cues from the Chennai raids and is now cracking down spas and parlours throughout the state, with a special focus on the most important towns.

IANS was told by sources in Tamil Nadu police that there were reports that illegal activities, including flesh trading, were being conducted under the cover massage centres that didn’t have a mandatory license.

Police stated that many parlours were operating without the licensing of the urban local authorities.

Special teams have been formed in all districts in response to intelligence reports that some police officers were working in close cooperation with illegal entities.The raids carried out by the special teams are creating surprise across the state.

However, police are not open to discussing the number of spas and parlours that were raided or closed down.A senior officer told me that details would be provided later.

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption had recently raided the premises of two anti-vice squad members.Two police inspectors from Chennai were raided on the grounds of their premises due to reports that they were in close proximity to many people involved in flesh trading in the city.

Also, the raids were related to unlicensed parlours.
