TN Overseas Manpower Corporation signs MoU to provide jobs for maids

Chennai : Nov 21, 2001 - Tamil Nadu Overseas Manpower Corporation, (OMC), is a state labor department division that has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kuwait Gate Foundation for the purpose of recruiting maids in Kuwait.C.

N., the Corporations Managing Director, stated that 500 maids will be offered jobs in Kuwait as a starting point.

MaheswaranOMC released a statement Saturday stating that it will intervene in recruitment of maids in foreign countries in order to stop exploitation, and provide safety and security to maids from Tamil Nadu.OMCs Managing Director stated that OMC is working hard to ensure Tamil Nadu citizens have safe and secure jobs in foreign countries, as per the instructions of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, and C.V.Ganeshan (labor and skill development minister).According to the statement, OMC wants to sign MoUs and contracts with foreign companies to provide jobs for Tamil Naduans.The MoU with KGF was one example.

It also stated that the organization has reached out to foreign authorities to create a network to send a worker from India to these other countries.OMC also requests that those looking for work in other countries contact the corporation to register at the local employment centers.

OMC released the following statement: "The MoUs objective is to provide safe migration and a working environment for Tamil Naduans who travel to other countries to seek a living.The OMC is helping eligible applicants to register with OMC in order to obtain suitable jobs.
