Chennai, Nov 28, : Tamil Nadu’s health department has issued warnings to all district collectors about the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus.This variant of Covid-19 virus, Omicron, has been identified by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the state government has issued advisories for all district collectors. The state health department has also issued alerts for all major airports in the state.At Chennai airport, testing facilities are being increased.
IANS was informed by officials from the Health Department that they are considering increasing the number of counters for testing at Chennai International Airport.
Dr.J.Radhakrishnan, the state health secretary, has already instructed district collectors to track people who have traveled to foreign countries and to monitor them.
Ma Subramanian, the state health minister, told IANS that he had received information from the Union’s health ministry about the Omicron virus.The state health department has already issued directives for all district collectors.
We are following the guidelines issued centrally regarding the arrival of passengers from other countries.
