Instead of the opposition MPs, he suggested that 80 MPs from the treasury benches be suspended.

Kharge had raised this issue under rule 256, stating that the suspension was against the rules of procedure.

“The members have been suspended for conduct that occurred during the previous session,” the LoP stated, adding that there is no need to apologize.

The Chairman replied that the House had adopted a motion, and on the day of occurence, he named the MPs.

Derek O’Brien, TMC, stated that the Members were forced to act in this manner during the Monsoon session because certain issues were not being discussed despite repeated requests. He stated that “not the 12 Opposition MPs, but 80 MPs from the Treasury should be suspended.”
