Timothee Chalamet blasts social media negative media

Los Angeles, Sep 3 : Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet was a snarky critic of the world of social media at the Venice press event for Luca Guadagino’s “Bones and All’ in which he and co-star Taylor Russell play cannibal lovers traveling across America.
In a nod to the fact that the tale was set in the 1980s, when social media didn’t exist, Chalamet went on an anti-social media rant, according to Variety.

“To be young today and being young at any time I speak about my generation, and is to be a target for scrutiny,” said Chalamet.

“I am not sure what it’s like to grow older with the flurry of social media. It was refreshing to play characters struggling with an internal issue without the ability to log on to Reddit or Twitter, Instagram or TikTok and figure out how they are in.”

“I’m not casting judgment,” he added.

“You will locate your tribe here. But I think it’s difficult to live in the present.I believe that societal collapse is in the air. This is why I hope this film will be important.”

Based on the book written by Camille DeAngelis and adapted by David Kajganich, with whom Guadagnino collaborated on ‘A Bigger Slash and ‘Suspiria’ The film ‘Bones’A tells the tale of Maren (Taylor Russell) is a young woman struggling to survive on the fringes of society as well as Lee (Chalamet) is an ardent and uninvolved drifter as they meet and come together to embark on a journey that takes them through the back roads of the Reagan era of America.

Russell was among those who shared Chalamet’s concerns about the dangers of social media for kids today.

“I have a brother who’s around 19, 20 or so and I’m contemplating his place in this worldand also the self-judgment and judgement of others that people are to be flooded with everyday in such an extreme and threatening manner is terrifying as the expectation is that you’ll find your own way through all of it, and it seems to be a challenge,” she said.
