T’gana Cong MP finally meets the state party chief

Hyderabad, Nov 27, : Party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy shared a dais with A.Revanth Reddy, the party’s state president, on Saturday.
The Bhongir MP, who has been avoiding party activities since Revanth Reddy was elected state party president in June was seen sitting beside him during the party’s protest in Hyderabad about paddy procurement.

The two leaders had a pleasant chat and exchanged pleasantries to the delights of senior party leaders at Dharna Chowk.

This is where the two-day ‘deeksha’ began on Saturday, demanding that the state government expedite paddy procurement from farmers.

Venkat Reddy was a strong contender to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee post (TPCC).

He had openly criticized the appointment of Revanth Reddy.The party’s central leadership had failed to take into consideration many senior members of the party to appoint Revanth Reddy (a former leader of Telugu Desam Party, TDP), who joined Congress party in 2017.

Bhongir Lok Sabha member had vowed to not step into the state party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan.He had also claimed that the post as chief of TPCC was sold by a central leader.

However, he did not criticize Sonia Gandhi, calling himself a Gandhi loyalist.

The leaders of the state Congress hope Venkat Reddy’s participation in the party will help strengthen it at a time when it is trying take on ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) by leading protests about people’s issues.

Revanth Reddy, addressing the protest programme, blasted both TRS and BJP, claiming they were cheating farmers.

According to the TPCC chief, the Congress party will continue its protest until the state government offers to purchase the entire paddy.
