Tewari issues notice for adjournment motion to LS regarding farmers issue

New Delhi, Nov 29, : , Congress MP Manish Tewari has served a notice to the Lok Sabha for the adjournment motion requesting compensation for farmers who died in an unremitting agitation for over a year.
Tewari stated in his notice, “I hereby give notification of my intent to ask for leave for the motion for the adjournment to the business of the House to discuss a definite matter urgent importance, namely:-

The government recently repealed three farm laws, namely the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and facilitation) Act, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, which farmers have been protesting against for the past year.

“During the agitation, many farmers lost lives to the harsh weather and alleged use force by the state.There were also violent attacks on farmers’ lives, such as the Lakhimpur Kheri incident where farmers were allegedly run over in fast moving vehicles.

Many farmers lost their livelihoods as they protested against farmers at the borders.Many times, the farmers who lost the fight were the sole income earners of their families.

“The government replied to Parliament and stated that it doesn’t keep track of farmers who died in the agitation.The government should keep a list of farmers who died protesting farm laws and pay compensation to their families.

Sir, I am writing to raise the grave matter of government neglect of farmers’ lives,” he said in his notice.

The Lok Sabha also received a notice of adjournment motion from Congress MP Manickam Tagore.

The government will present ‘The Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021’ to the Lok Sabha Monday to complete the constitutional provisions for the repeal of three farm laws.Narendra Singh Tomar, Agriculture Minister, will present the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 to the Lower House.

The Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 will repeal three farm law — the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020; the Farmers’ Produce Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act (2020); and to amend the Essential Commodities Act (55).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the constitutional process for repealing these laws would be completed by the Parliament Session, which will begin at the end this month.

“It seems that some farmers are still not convinced of our sincere efforts.We have decided to repeal three farm laws.”The constitutional process to repeal these laws will be completed during the Parliament session that would begin at the end of the month,” the Prime Minister had stated.
