Hyderabad, Dec 8, : , Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai soundararajan visited two paddy procurement centers in Nalgonda on Wednesday. She visited the Paddy Procurement Centres at Duppalapally & Arjalabavi Villages and interacted with farmers and officials regarding procurement progress, procedures, and facilities.
The Governor also inquired about the facilities available to farmers and the procedures for procurement.She also inquired about their progress in the procurement and other aspects.
She inquired about the yield and availability of bags for packing from the farmers.
She was informed by officials about the progress of the procurement process as well as the facilities available to farmers at IKP procurement centers.
The Governor suddenly visited the farmers, and the women took a group photo with her.
The Governor’s visit at procurement centres comes at a time when Congress and the opposition BJP have been focusing on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government (TRS) over slow procurement during the ongoing Kharif Season.In response, the TRS is blaming the Centre government of the BJP for ignoring its responsibility to lift the paddy out of the state.
The TRS has decided not to attend the winter session of Parliament.
This is because the Centre is failing to do justice to farmers in the state, especially in the matter regarding paddy procurement.
A delegation of TRS leaders, led by S.Niranjan Reddy, state Agriculture Minister, had called upon the Governor last month and urged her urge the Union government to direct FCI (Food Corporation of India) to procure paddy in Telangana.
Congress leaders requested that the Governor visit marketyards last week to better understand the suffering of farmers, and press the state and Central governments for assistance.
