Hyderabad, Nov 29, : Telanganas government has set up a Cabinet subcommittee Monday to address potential problems resulting from Omicron, a new Coronavirus variant found in some countries.
Harish Rao (Health Minister) will lead the four-member committee that will recommend to government the necessary measures to address the pandemic situation due to the new variants threat and to accelerate Covid vaccination.Urban Development Minister K.T.The panel will include Rama Rao, Panchayat Raj minister E.Dayakar Rao, and Education Minister SabitaIndra Reddy.The state Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao made the decision to form the committee.The Cabinet discussed the current pandemic situation, and the preparedness of Health Department to handle any contingency.
The Cabinet was briefed by officials from the Health Department on the current situation regarding Omicron.They also provided details on the measures taken to combat the pandemic over the past two years.
The Cabinet was informed that the Health Department was fully prepared to handle any situation.Officials stated that all necessary medicines, equipment, and human resources were available to handle the third wave.
It also requested that the Health Department review the condition of all hospitals and ensure that all necessary resources are available to handle any emergency.The department was also asked for the necessary steps to increase the number and quality of Covid tests.
The meeting also reviewed progress in vaccination in the state.The states health authorities were instructed to speed up the process of vaccination.
Secretary, Medical and Health was directed to focus on vaccinations in Adilabad and Komaram Asifabad, Nirmal and Mahabubnagar districts.Officials stated earlier that passengers from Africa, Europe, and Hong Kong will need to be tested for RT-PCR at the airport.
After screening, those who have been fully vaccinated must be sent home for quarantine.Those who have not been vaccinated or are not yet fully vaccinated need to be tested and quarantined.
