Taliban gunmen inspect Kabul residents’ mobile phones

Residents of Kabul complain about gunmen connected to the Taliban government checking their mobile phones.

This violates their privacy, Pajhwok News reportedThey were concerned about the unwarranted checks and said that it amounts to travesty of human rights and the respect for their privacy.According to the report, several people from different parts of the capital claimed that they were informed by armed men that their smartphones would need to be checked.

However, a senior government official stated that the security forces do not have the right of accessing mobile phones of people or harassing citizens.The official thought that intelligence agents might have done this in some cases based on tip-offs.He promised to end the practice.
