Abu Dhabi, Nov 28, : Deccan Gladiators won their sixth victory at the Abu Dhabi T10 after defeating Northern Warriors 19 runs on Sunday. The Gladiators posted a total of 134/5 from their 10 overs thanks to Odean Smith’s incredible innings of 33 runs using 11 balls and Tom Moores’ quick-fire 39 runs using 19 balls.
The Northern Warriors were unable to sustain momentum and fell short of their target.
Kennar Lewis was able to get the Northern Warriors’ chase moving in perfect fashion.
He smashed two boundaries and two sixes off Odean’s bowling in his second over.Smith won the match with his last delivery of the over, knocking off his stumps.
Moeen Ali maintained the Warriors’ momentum by hitting consecutive sixes in his fourth over.Captain Wahab Riaz dismissed him.However, the Gladiators pulled it back brilliantly by conceding just 4 runs in the fifth.
The Warriors failed to bat at the required pace and scored just 18 runs in their next two overs.
Captain Rovman Powell was looking good in the middle, scoring 25 runs from 18 balls.Umair Ali was outrun by Andre Russell in the ninth over.
The Gladiators reduced the Warriors to 115/4 overs.
The Deccan Gladiators scored a huge run earlier thanks to the crackling innings of Odean Smith and Tom Moores.
Moores came into bat at 16/1 and smashed Mark Watt with two boundaries and a six in his third over, bringing the Gladiators’ score up to 34/1.Andre Russell joined the party in sixth over and smacked Joshua Little for two consecutive boundaries.
Moores hit a boundary, while Russell hit a straight six against Umair Ali’s bowling.This brought the Deccan Gladiators up to 90/2 in seven innings.
Oshane Thomas then put a halt to the run flow by taking wickets of Moores (39 runs from 19 balls) & Russell (22 runs from 11 balls).He conceded only 3 runs in his eighth over.
Odean Smith hit four boundaries and a six against Rayad Emrit’s next over to get the Gladiators’ innings on track.Smith (33* runs from 11 balls) hit two more sixes in his last over, bringing his team’s total up to 134/5 in their ten overs.
