Khartoum 11 August : The Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu has promised to expose the “malicious plots” against the unity among tribes. “There are a number of malicious plots that target the social cohesion of the social fabric of the tribes.We’re conscious of these plots, and we’ll reveal the culprits behind them,” Daqlu said at an event for journalists on Wednesday afternoon at Khartoum airport.
He confirmed the government’s determination to end tribal conflicts and promoting reconciliation between the tribal groups in the Sudan’s western Darfur region, which is adjacent to Chad, Xinhua news agency reported.
He said it’s crucial to ensure security at the border with Chad to avoid the repeat of what it described as “a cross-border attack carried out by Chadian militias which killed more than 18 Sudanese civilians on August 4”.
He stated that the Sudanese-Chadian joint forces should take an active part in helping stop the infiltration of outlaws across the border.
Sudan and Chad have an area of border that is more than 1,350 kilometers.
The Darfur region has been the scene of violent violence since.
Over the years, efforts to end tribal conflict have met failure which was blamed on the access of tribes to weapons as well as a lack of an effective system of governance in various parts of the region.
