New Delhi, Nov 24, : , Subramanian Swamy, leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, met Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo (TMC), here on Wednesday. Swamy ended rumors about him joining the TMC after the meeting.
There was speculation earlier about the meeting between the leaders, after Swamy openly supported Banerjee in Rome when she was not allowed.
Recently, several politicians quit their political parties to join the TMC.On Tuesday, Ashok Tanwar and Kirti Azad, leaders of Congress, joined the TMC.
Swamy appears to have been disappointed by the Modi government’s economic policies and the border dispute between China and India.
The TMC plans to expand its political reach to all corners of the country.
Many leaders from the BJP and JD-U have joined the TMC ahead of five state elections.
Mamata Banerjee, who has national ambitions for 2024 Lok Sabha elections in 2024, has been meeting senior leaders from various parties.
