A step-father allegedly raped a minor girl in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 28, : , A minor girl was allegedly raped in the capital by her stepfather, according to an official.
According to the official, a complaint was filed at Malviya Nagar Police Station (November 27th) regarding the heinous crime committed with a minor girl from Dehradun.

According to the complaint, victim had visited her rented house from June to August 2021 to enjoy a vacation in Chirag Delhi where her mother and stepfather resided.

According to the official, “It was alleged she was repeatedly raped by her stepfather during her stay in Chirag Delhi.”

After verifying it, police registered it under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

“The police have launched an investigation into this case,” said the official, adding that a manhunt was being launched to capture the suspect.

Rakesh Asthana, Delhi Police Commissioner, had stated that women’s safety is their highest priority during an event.Commissioner Asthana stated that “Overall, the approach is that if there is a woman in distress, or if there is a child in distress, then proper attention should be given to them.”

But what does the data say?

Comparative to last year’s data, the crime against women in the capital continued to rise.

According to data compiled in Delhi Police, 1725 women were allegedly raped between October 31 and the present year.

In 2020, 1429 women were subject to the same heinous crime.Comparing the data to the previous year’s, the increase was 20%.

The total number of women being abused in 2020 was 7,948.This year, it has risen to 11,527.

In the past 10 months, the crime against women in the capital has increased by 45 percent.
