Bihar’s liquor trade can now be monitored by a state-run organization: CIABC

The Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies has urged the National Democratic Alliance government in Bihar (NDA), to end state prohibitionIt has also suggested several steps to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure that his avowed goals of helping women is achieved without adverse fallouts of prohibition.

It also suggested that Chief Minister Nitish K Kumar take several steps to help women achieve his stated goals without the negative consequences of prohibition.In its letter to the leaders of the NDA constituents, Janata Dal (United), Bharatiya Janata Party, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Vikassheel Insaan Party, the CIABC has pointed out that Bihar is paying a heavy price of the prohibition policy in the form of proliferation of unlawful and spurious liquor, hooch tragedies, rise of crime syndicates and loss of legitimate Government revenues.

The CIABC pointed out in a letter it sent to Janata Dal (United), Bharatiya Janata Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha(Secular), that Bihar is paying a heavy cost of the prohibition policy.This includes the proliferation of illicit and spurious liquors, hooch tragedies and the rise of crime syndicates as well as loss of Government revenues.
