V.Ramana, on Friday urged lawyers not to be afraid to stand up for what is right and against what’s wrong.
The remarks were made by the Chief Justice at a Constitution Day celebration organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association.

“I want you to know that you must help judges and the institution.

We all are part of one big family.Protect the institution against targeted and motivated attacks.”Do not be afraid to stand up for what is right and against what’s wrong,” the CJI stated.

Justice Ramana stated that lawyers are the only people who have an intimate knowledge of the Constitution.

Your shoulders are responsible for the nation’s history, present, and future. This is a heavy burden, if it’s not the most difficult. This profession is considered a noble one.Like any other profession, it requires expertise, experience, dedication, and commitment. It requires expertise, experience, and commitment, but it also requires integrity, civic virtue, knowledge of social issues and social responsibility. You must be leaders and mentors within society.

Justice Ramana asked lawyers to take up pro bono cases, and be worthy the public’s trust.

He expressed his joy at being part the legal community that has contributed so much to freedom struggle and played an integral role in the creation of the Constitution.”We cannot forget the contributions of lawyers like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Naehru, Jawaharlal Nihu, Lala Lajpatrai, Sardar Patel, and Alladi Krishnaswamy, whose dedication to the cause of the people is legendary. We are all descendants of this glorious legacy.

He stated that the Constitution of today is built on the foundations laid in 1949 by the framers. It is richer and more complex than the 1949 version.

This is due to the dialogue that took places both inside and outside of the courtroom, which resulted in unique and innovative interpretations.

“Perhaps the most important aspect of the Indian Constitution, is that it provides a framework for discussion.

This is how the nation evolves, progresses, and ultimately achieves higher levels for its citizens’ welfare. The CJI stated that the most visible and direct players in this process are the judges and lawyers of this country.
