Sri Lanka’s spin star Prabath Jayasuriya was named ICC Player of the Month in July

Dubai 8th August : Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriyas stunning performance in the second Test against Australia at Galle that helped the hosts draw the series to 1-1 and earned him the ICC Mens Player of the Month award for July 2022.

The spinner recorded numbers of 6/118 and 6/59, as the hosts came back to beat Australia in Galle in the test series of two matches.They defeated the Pat Cummins-led team by 39 and an innings.

Jayasuriya defeated England batter and player of the Month Jonny Bairstow, as well as French superstar Gustav McKeon for the monthly award, following a fantastic beginning in international cricket in the longest format.The 30-year-old was ecstatic to be awarded the award every month.

In spite of Sri Lanka losing the series opener in Galle against Babar Azams team, Jayasuriya was the most successful bowler for the hosts with numbers of 5/82 and 4/135.In the second Test , which was played against Pakistan, he clinched his fourth five-wicket haul in only three Tests.

After scoring 3/80 in the first innings he scored numbers of 5/117 in the second innings when Sri Lanka romped home to an unbeatable 246-run win to draw equalize the series.With his performance, Jayasuriya registered four five-wicket hauls in only three Test games and four in six innings.
