South Central Railway cancels trains following cyclone alert; Details here!

Cyclone Jawad is causing a stir in the Northern AP and Southern Odisha.The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal is going to strengthen and turn into a cyclone.

It is expected to reach the Uttarandhra-Odisha coast by the morning of December 4 and strengthen further, meteorological officials said.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Srikakulam and Odisha on December 5 and 6.However, the meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in southern Odisha along with Uttarandhra and Godavari districts from Friday.

In the wake of this, the vigilant South Central Railway cancelled several trains on December 3 and 4.These include services between Puri-Tirupati, Howrah-Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad, Raigad-Guntur and Howrah-Secunderabad trains.South Central Railway has posted a complete list on Twitter.

On the other hand, East Coast Railway also cancelled trains on a large scale following the cyclone alert.It said the decision was taken in the interest of passenger safety.Passengers were asked to cooperate.

The cyclone is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rains to the northern coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha districts, the Meteorological department officials said.

As far as AP is concerned, heavy rains are expected in Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam districts from December 2, Meteorological Department officials said.
