Tokyo, November 30, : Sony, the tech giant, is developing PlayStation controllers for smartphones, according to media reports. GizmoChina claims that the company patent has revealed that the brand could have a PlayStation-like controller that connects with your smartphone.
The report stated that this is not the first time that the tech giant has attempted to make gaming more portable.
The company had already released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone in 2011.
It was a slider phone with a joypad, buttons and controls that were similar to those found on its gaming consoles.
Although the concept was innovative and ahead-of-its time, it was limited by the limitations of the technology available at the time.
It was impossible to play 3D intensive games at the time with the hardware available. However, this limitation is no longer as severe.
A recent patent has been found on the US Patent and Trademark Office site.It states that the patent was officially recognized on November 16.
The design patent for the removable plates can be found on both sides of the console.
According to the report, it could be a way for the brand to prevent third-party companies from making custom face plates.
