Tokyo, November 23, : , Japanese tech giant Sony plans to introduce faceplates that can be customized for PlayStation 5. The US Patent and Trademark Office has posted a recent patent that states the patent was recognized officially on November 16th.

According to the report, it could be a way for the brand to prevent third-party firms from making custom-made face plates.
Sony had threatened to sue companies for selling unofficial faceplates directly to customers.
The PS5 was released in stores around the globe in November 2020.

The PlayStation 5 continues to be a strong and steady seller with sales of 3.3 million units in Q2 fiscal compared to the 2.2 million sold last quarter.
The quarter ended with 76.4 million games sold, compared to 63.6 millions in the preceding quarter.This was largely due to sales by third parties.
The normal PlayStation 5 is priced at Rs 49,990 in India while the digital version costs at Rs 39,990.
