Los Angeles, Nov 26, : Los Angeles’s upscale department stores were robbed by two more “smash and grab” robbers.This is in addition to a number of similar crimes in the US. According to Xinhua news agency, at least five people entered an open Nordstrom store in Los Angeles’ Canoga Park neighbourhood on Wednesday night.
The attack took place at 6.45 p.m., when five suspects broke into the store and ran off with items that included seven to eight high-end purses valued at $25,000.
The intruders used bear-spray on a security guard during the robbery, and then fled the scene by car.
On Wednesday, police also said that at least four people stole merchandise worth $20,000 from an Apple store in Santa Rosa.It is located approximately 95 kim north San Francisco.
Santa Rosa Police Department stated that the incident occurred in front of customers, staff, and employees at noon.Four robbers were identified as young males aged between 14 and 18 years.
These are the latest burglaries similar to those that took place in high-end shops in the Golden State.In one instance, several thieves ransacked a shop and fled in cars.
A mob of around 80 people stormed a Nordstrom department shop in Walnut Creek, 35km east of San Francisco, on November 20.
Three suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday.They were charged with multiple felonies including robbery and burglary, organised theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
At least 18 people broke into the Nordstrom department store in Los Angeles on Monday and stole thousands of dollars of merchandise.
According to the LAPD, three suspects were arrested.
State Governor Gavin Newsom ordered the California Highway Patrol to increase their presence near major retail locations in response to an increase in organized retail theft.
He also announced a proposed increase to the state budget for 2022-2023 to combat retail theft.
“The amount of organised retail theft that we are witnessing is unacceptable.” Customers and businesses should feel safe when they holiday shop.
“As a small-business owner, I am determined to hold these criminals accountable.And protect our local businesses.” Newsom added.
