Colombo : Nov 18, 2018 - The Sri Lankan Health Authorities have begun to administer Covid-19 booster shot for people over 60.
According to doctors on the ground, the Pfizer jab was used for the booster dose.All people within the cited age range can go with their vaccination cards to their nearest inoculation centers and get the third shot.
This applies regardless of whether they have received the second or first dose.In Sri Lanka, the first and second doses were administered by Pfizer Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
According to health officials, people older than 60 years old are eligible for the booster dose provided it is less than three months since their last dose.Officials appealed to people to not wait in line at the vaccine centres, but instead to receive a digital message confirming their vaccination time.
Health authorities claim that the rollout of the nations booster dose started with security personnel and frontline healthcare workers, over 120,000 having received it so far.Official statistics show that 93.5 percent of Sri Lankas population aged over 20 has been fully immunized.On Thursday, Sri Lankas total Covid death toll and caseload stood at 5,533,722 and 14,057 respectively.ksk/ #booster #shots.
