Lucknow, Nov 26th : , Nirmala Sitharaman (Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs) conferred Friday the Presidential Award of Recognition Certificates and Medals for a ‘Specially Distinguished Service Record’ on the officers & staff of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, Lucknow. Sitharaman congratulated all the awardees and praised the work of CBIC officers.
She also praised the Customs officers for their prompt clearance of customs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister suggested that a special Corona Response Award be created in recognition of the exceptional performance of the Customs during the pandemic.
This award would be announced with the Presidential awardees on January 26, 20,22.
She also stressed that monthly GST collection has become an indicator of economic growth and stated that she will continue to collect GST for the upcoming months in order to maintain a faster growth rate.
Recognizing the efforts of CBIC officers who worked from home during the pandemic, and observing that Group A officers were provided laptops/tablets, the Finance Minister announced that all Group-B officers of CBIC should be provided with laptops/tablets to improve their performance.
Sitharaman stated that 9,200 laptops were approved for Group B officers.
