SIT arrests two farmers in connection to alleged lynchings of BJP workers

Two farmers were arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), in relation to the lynching of three BJP workers in Lakhimpur Kheris violence on October 3, last yearSIT sources say that Kamaljeet Sing, 29 and Kawaljeet Sing Sonu, 35 were taken into custody by SIT officials on Saturday.

The two had been hiding from police for almost two months.They had previously released photos of two suspects by the SIT.The investigating officer will request their remand and they will be brought before a magistrate.Six farmers were arrested so far in relation to the deaths of three BJP workers.

After they had been identified as suspects, the SIT earlier detained Vichitra Singh and Gurwinder Singh.Initially, an FIR was registered with murder and rioting charges against unidentified Farmers.

This complaint came from Sumit Jaiswal (BJP worker), who is also a coaccused with Ashish Mishra Teni, Union Minister of State in Home, and Ajay Mishra Teni.It concerns the deaths of four farmers as well as a journalist.

Sumit filed a FIR but did not include the death of the five victims, who were apparently mowed by Ashishs convoy.Police lodged the first FIR in relation to violence after receiving a complaint from farmers about Ashish and other suspects.
