Srinagar : , Sunday, November 21st: Scores of Hindus and many migrants from Kashmir offered prayers at the Jhelum River’s confluence in Saidipora district of J&K’s Srinagar.They also bathed in the Sindh stream.Devout Hindus braved sub-zero temperatures to offer floral tributes and sing religious hymns at Saidipora Temple, which is located inside the Jhelum River’s confluence with The Sindh stream.
While most of us hail from Andhra Pradesh, there are others from other parts.
We offered prayers to the Saidipora Temple’s ‘Sangam (Confuence), and then took the holy dip.
We also offered prayers on the Wayil bridge, and we took holy water from the Sindh stream.The sacred Hindu religion holds both the Jhelum river and the Sindh river.
One devotee said, “After praying and taking holy water, we received Darshan of Mata at Khir Bhawani temple.”
Over 3,000 devotees said that the practice would continue for 10 more days until the month’s end.
The pandemic meant that the ritual could not be performed last year by devotees.
