Scientists repair GPS device to wings of pelican in K’taka

Mandya (Karnataka) September 12, : Scientists have successfully attached an GPS device to an eagle in Kokkare Bellur in Karnatakas Mandya district.

The study was conducted to investigate the habitats of pelicans, their diet habits and international routes these birds use to travel.Sources say that sources claimed that the GPS device was brought in from Greece.

Scientists and animal lovers have described the research as being a part of the past.The GPS device will assist determine the exact route, which includes areas where the pelican is traveling in addition to recording their movements.

Researchers have also stated that they will be able to discover the place of origin of the bird by conducting this study.Pelican birds fly through India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

The GPS device is recharged automatically by sun rays.The GPS device was designed to relay all the relevant information about various routes to travel over a period of 4 years.

Attractive pelican birds appear in Kokkare Bellur in October and then disappear after two months.The breed of birds is located in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Myanmar.mka/dp.
