New York, November 21st : .Scientists discovered that vitamin D can reduce inflammation in immune cells.
This could be related to severe Covid-19 reactionsStudy reveals that vitamin D can reduce inflammation in T cells. They are vital cells in the immune system, and they were implicated in the immune response to Covid-19.
Purdue University led the team that analysed eight individuals with Covids lung cells. The researchers found an increase in inflammation and inflammation of lung cells from people suffering with Covid.
In a second study, the team examined how viruses affected lung cells. The researchers discovered that viruses could trigger an immune system biochemical pathway.
They began looking at ways to interrupt this pathway and reduce inflammation.Majid Kazemian assistant professor at the Purdue University departments of Computer Science & Biochemistry said that Th1 cells (a subset T cell) go through a phase of pro-inflammatory.
The pro-inflammatory phase is responsible for clearing the infection. After that, the system switches to the anti-inflammatory stage.
Vitamin D speeds up the transition between the pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory phases of T cells.Kazemian said that although we dont know for sure, it is possible to help those suffering from severe inflammation due to Th1 cells.
Patients with Covid-19 have a pro-inflammatory phase that seems to not be switched on in patients. This could possibly reflect a lack of vitamin D or an abnormal cell response.
Researchers suggest that people may be able to recover from Covid infection by adding vitamin D to their existing treatment options, which they use as an intravenous metabolite. However, this hypothesis has not been tested.
Kazemian stated, "We discovered that vitamin D, a special form, is capable of reducing inflammation in the test tube.We figured out why and how it works.
" We do not recommend that you buy normal vitamin D from the drugstore shelves. To prevent and combat Covid infection, no one should take more vitamin D than is recommended.
Kazemian stated that further research is needed, including clinical trials and patient testing, before the treatment can be considered as an option.rvt/svn/skp #Researchers #investigate #Vitamin #Covid.
