Seoul, Nov 28th : , South Korean tech giant Samsung is pushing to increase the number Galaxy phones with Exynos power. According to Android Authority this could mean that Samsung could double its Exynos processor shipments in 2022.
According to the report, this decision was partly due to the global chipset shortage.This allowed Samsung to reduce its dependence on chipsets from Qualcomm.
Samsung has a tradition of sticking to either Qualcomm or its own Exynos chipsets when making high-end smartphones.The report stated that the US and China gained Snapdragon variants while the rest of the world got Exynos models.
ET News reported that Samsung Electronics is trying to “raise” the Exynos chipsets for Galaxy phones, from 20% to between 50% and 60%.
According to the outlet, Samsung’s LSI division will more than double Exynos chipset shipments in 2022.
Samsung Electronics recently announced that it has chosen Taylor, Texas, USA, to build its $17 billion chip manufacturing plant.This move is intended to increase production in the face of a global shortage.
This decision was made five months after the tech giant had announced a plan for a second, next generation chip plant in the US.It also came as global automotive and consumer electronics companies were forced to reduce their production due to the chip supply crunch.
