President of South Korea urges quick administration of booster shots to combat Covid-19

Seoul, Nov 29, : , The South Korean President Moon Jaein called for a quick administration of booster shots against Covid-19 because the relaxed anti-virus rules have increased the number of severe cases as well as deaths.
Moon, who presided at a Covid-19 response meeting said that the country’s pandemic situation became serious due to the increased number of infections, severe cases, and deaths as well as fewer beds in hospitals for severe patients.

According to Xinhua news agency, the government introduced the “Living with Covid-19” rules in November to ease anti-virus measures after the country’s full vaccination rate topped 70 percent.

The confirmed cases rose due to the relaxed social-distancing guidelines.

The latest data shows that South Korea has reported 3,309 additional cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related infections to 444,000.

The number of people infected with the virus in serious condition was over 600.32 additional deaths were also confirmed, bringing the death toll to 3,580.

Moon stated that it was important to inoculate those who are not yet vaccinated and stressed the need for a third dose of Covid vaccine.

“A third dose is not an extra shot, but a basic shot.” Moon stated that it is important to change the way you think so that the vaccination can only be completed after the third jab.

Moon asked parents to allow their children to be vaccinated between 12 and 17.Officials were instructed to quickly review the possibility of inoculating minors between 5 and 11.

Over 90% of adults over 18 were fully vaccinated.However, the percentage of children between 12 and 17 who were vaccinated remained low because parents resisted it out of concern about side effects.

Moon directed officials to secure more beds for severely ill patients and to move up the date for introducing Covid-19 treatment pills, which was originally scheduled for February next.
